Congratulations to Manchester 62 FC Ladies team for becoming league champions this weekend by beating St Joseph’s Ladies 3 -0

Manchester 62 FC Under 7 Black lost against lions, 9-2, the girls were a bit sleepy at first, but then they started to pick it up and managed to score a really good goal by Tiane Payas, great pass from Ana Sera. They then hit the post twice before half time, score was 5-1, second half Lions FC started scoring more goals and Ana Sera once again scored from half way line. Girls did really well considering the team was only had 8 players as the rest were ill and two players playing were not 100%. So well done to them for working so hard.

Manchester 62 FC Under 9 Red played an extremely hard game in the rain against a second year U9 Lions Sacarello team. The team were low in numbers with a few players out either with injury or illness including the goalkeeper which meant that the team played against our hardest opponents without a keeper having to use outfield players Evan Busto in the first half and Evan Penfold in the second half which put the team at a disadvantage from the outset, however both players performed extremely well considering this is not their position. The Reds played their hearts out but Lions went into the lead, man62 held their ground and pushed the opponent’s back and the first half finished with the narrow lead by Lions. The second half started with Manchester 62 pushing hard and only minutes into the half Carl De Torres put Man62 level. The team wanted more and piled the pressure on and it paid off as midway through the half yet again Carl De Torres put us in the lead with a screamer free kick curled into the top corner giving the Lions keeper no chance. In the final 10 minutes our players paid the price for the effort and conceded an equaliser and then only with minutes to go Lions took the advantage when one of our star defenders Liam Borge had to be taken off the pitch when he received a blow to the head when making a perfectly timed last minute tackle to deny the Lions striker and scored their third goal. The game finished with Manchester Red losing by 3 goals to 2 however with the sensation of having won the game. They faced an older team with a full team in terrible weather conditions and without a keeper or the numbers to maintain fresh legs and only narrowly loosing out. All the team played their hearts out and gave 100% effort and deserved the win, nevertheless well done to all.
