The Birth of Gibraltar’s Manchester Utd Family
Mr. C Moberley and Mr. G Undery wrote to Sir Matt Busby seeking permission to use the name and the colours of Manchester Utd UK, Permission was granted andMr. L Ghio was approached to become the first club manager, Around 30 local players attended the recruitment session and the first team was soon formed, The team was registered in the GFA 2nd Division in October 1962 where players had to be aged from 17 -22yrs with option of having 3 over aged players.The first game played was against Juvenil San Requeno and we won 3-1.
