Monday night saw a brilliant game between Manchester 62 FC vs College Europa FC with 62 coming out on top 1-0 winners courtersy of Naoufal. It was a hard-fought battle in the midfield with two great powerful displays from Jack “the Hammer” Sergeant and premier debutant Anthony “No Nonsense” Bardon.
The game started with Man 62 FC on the front foot, with Giles Lopez having two great chances to put 62 in the lead, Jeremy Lopez, Naoufal and Scott opening up the College defence in attack.
Man 62 FC maintained a solid line in defence with Shea, Matt, Kevin and Yogen. 15 minutes from time Ashley Perez found Naoufal to break the deadlock and get the winner for Man 62 FC. We also need to mention a great performance by our very own 17 year old Scott Ballentine who was given the Man of the Match.
We have to thank Evan Zayas for his contribution last night which lead to a broken nose. We wish him all the best as he recovers from his injuries.
After the match we managed to catch up with Manager Aaron Asquez:-
Man 62 FC Media: The last time you went up against College FC it ended in a draw, How do you think the game went last night?
Aaron Asquez: Last night’s game was totally different as we kept our 11 players on the pitch. It was a tough game and College FC played their best football I have seen them play to date but still we held them off well and created the better chances. We were unlucky not to score within 20 minutes of the game with some clear cut chances. We started the second half focused and created a few chances which again, we should have done better in front of goal. We showed good mental strength as the players kept working, upped the game and they were rewarded with a deserved goal. Overall the technical team is happy with the team’s performance although we know we need to polish up different aspects of the game, as an example our finishing…. We need to kill the game sooner!!
Man 62 FC Media: Were you happy with the result?
Aaron Asquez: Yes, I am always happy when we win. I am also very happy with the commitment from the players and their professional approach to the games.
Man 62 FC Media: Do you think the attacking players could have done better in front of goal?
Aaron Asquez: Yes, definitely. We had some good chances of scoring… we need to make them count…. It would take some pressure off the players shoulders (and the technical team !!) and we would enjoy the game more and play more attractive football.
Man 62 FC Media: Are you happy with the performance of your two latest signings last night?
Aaron Asquez: I am very happy with both signings. Naoufal is a skillful midfielder who gets into good areas and can score goals, in two games he has scored three goals, two for the reserves on his debut and last night he scored the only goal of the game. Anthony has shown he is a strong player with great vision and is always looking to receive the ball. They will both get better as they get used to playing with their new teammates so I am very excited to have them onboard.
Man 62 FC Media: Glacis Utd is your next fixture. What are your predictions ?
Aaron Asquez: I have full confidence in my team so I can only predict a win. Having said that, predictions are just that ….. we need to turn up on the day and when we create our chances we need to make them count!
