The weekend started well for the Manchester Family as Manchester 62 Red under 9 played a second year Glacis United under 9. The match was a totally one sided game with Man 62 dominating from the outset and not giving a single chance to an older opposing team. During the first half the defence were totally in control cancelling out any attempt of offence by Glacis who struggled to get the ball past the half way mark, the first half finished with a comfortable score of 7-0 for the Reds. The second half picked up where the first finished with the Reds totally pushing the opposition into their own half, with no signs of a comeback by Glacis we took the overall score to an easy victory of 13-0 for Manchester 62. The senior Ladies lost 1 – 0 against St Joseph’s. Although Manchester 62 had some really good chances but where unable to convert them into goals. Manchester 62 Ladies are now second in the league 3 points form Lions FC who are 1st in the Ladies League.
Manchester 62 FC Under 7 had a good battle against an older St Joseph side. The game was always kept at an intense pace and the team managed to score a goal against their senior rivals. Scorer being Amos Federico. The ref whistled two penalties against the Man62, one was missed and the other saved in style by Charlie Jacobson. Chances were few from St Joseph as the players kept pressuring them into mistakes. Although the score being 5-1 at the end of the match the coaching staff were happy with the boys performance. This coming weekend we see Glacis Utd another older team and hoping to get a positive result.
Manchester 62 Red Under 7 had a hard match on Sunday against Lions D & H Ceramics. The Reds started trailing 2-0 then 3-1, Man62 where able to level the score before half time. Second half started and the Reds went in front by two goals for the first time in the match. After that the goals kept coming with Manchester 62 always scoring first, end result was 8-7. Coach Alex Lopez thinks his team gave away a few goals that shouldn’t have gone up for them.
Manchester 62 FC Under 15 where able to win against league leaders Lions Portman 2 -1. Lions been the older team went in-front by scoring first, but Manchester62 where able to level the score and then take the lead. A well deserved win.
